Taking the field of mathematics as the starting point, this paper conducts a statistical analysis of the scientists in the field, further constructs the scientific spatial network from the level of scientist attention and pre-cooperation of scientific research funding, uses social network analysis methods to identify the overall characteristics and core areas of scientific spatial network, and deeply discusses the characteristics of regional scientific spatial differentiation. The results show that: firstly, the distribution of scientists has obvious regional characteristics; secondly, in the scientific space based on the attention of scientists, the scientific space hotspot belt of Beijing-Tianjin, Shanghai, Hubei and Guangdong is formed, and the sub-hotspot areas such as Sichuan, Zhejiang, Jiangsu and Anhui are spread out from east to west along the Yangtze River, forming an academic hotspot belt along the Yangtze River; thirdly, the expected scientific space based on scientific research funding has a clear core edge structure; forthly, the scientific space based on the information of scientists reflects the leading strategic thinking of the central region, forming four core pillars and power sources of science and technology in Beijing, Shanghai, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle, which radiate collaborative innovation and cooperation in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, Yangtze River Delta, Pearl River Delta, Chengdu-Chongqing and other regions respectively.
